The Summer Celebration concerts are in full swing! On Tuesday, July 25, 2017, Billy Craig sang to a group of an estimated 150 people at Triangle Park, downtown Mancelona. Billy, a Detroit-based singer/songwriter, presented songs he has written. Our final concert is coming up Tuesday, August 8 beginning at 7:00 p.m. downtown Mancelona. In case of rain, the concert will be moved to the Farmers Market pavilion on the east side of U.S. 131 next to the buck pole.
There is no charge to attend. All are welcome, and encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Bellaire resident Deb Newland just opened a new retail store in downtown Mancelona.
"I'm very excited to be here," said Deb. "Everyone is so nice and welcoming, and thrilled to see yet another new business opening in town."
Deb's store is located inside the former D & B Building, across from BoJack's, downtown Mancelona. It is stocked full, and what she describes as a hodge-podgery treasure trove. Inside the store, shoppers will find a huge selection of kitchen books, utensils, Jim Beam bottles, furniture pieces, mirrors, vintage clothing, license plates, jewelry, dishes, new and used tea towels, new pillow, hand crafted quilts, linens and textiles and more. There's antique, vintage and retro items throughout the store, wall to wall.
Deb will be holding a grand opening celebration with in-store discounts, door prizes, refreshments and drawings. A July date is anticipated and will be announced.
The store is open daily. Monday through Saturday from 10a to 5p, and Sunday from 11a to 3p.
Each summer, Mancelona Chamber of Commerce hosts several music concerts for all to come and enjoy, at no cost to them. It's an opportunity to go out, have a night on the town without having to dip into your pockets, sit back and relax, visit with friends and neighbors, and just enjoy some good music.
All concerts are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. downtown Mancelona in the street on North Maple, between State Street and M-88 Highway in the area known as Triangle Park (where the clock is). Bring lawn chairs and blankets, whatever you are most comfortable with. In case of rain, concerts are moved across the highway to the Farmers Market pavilion located next to the Buck Pole on the east side of U.S. 131 by the traffic light, in Railroad Park.

Tuesday, July 11 - Kenny Thompson. "I am interested in making people dance, smile, tap their toes, snap fingers, sing out loud and have fun," says Kenny. He does all that, and more, with his singing and guitar-strummin' talent.
Tuesday, July 25 - Billy Craig. Detroit-based singer/songwriter Billy Craig joins us for the first time in Mancelona. Billy is spreading like wildfire among country fans. His sizzlin' hot, new CD is breaking through the radio airwaves here in the US and across Europe. Billy continues to gain notorieety through mainstream media with Carrie Underwood News, Forbes, Wall Street Journal, The Today Show, WSM in Nashville and many other radio shows around the country. Billy has a flair all of his own. Come meet him in Mancelona, July 25!
Tuesday, August 8 - Rawhide. Rawhide is a 6 member band playing a wide vareity of music ranging from classic rock to country.

Rooted is a new business now open in the Village of Mancelona. Rooted features all Michigan made products, including wood working, jewelry, candles, jams and jellies, maple syrup, apparel, seasonings and spices, and more. Also offering Ashby's hand-dipped ice cream.
Rooted is currently open 7 days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Located on US 131 next door to Iron Skillet Restaurant (south of the traffic light).
