Located in the Village of Mancelona at the south end of Danforth Street, Johnson Pond is open year around. Fishing is for kids ages 14 and under only. A variety of fish, including trout, bluegill and bass, make their home in this small pond.

On the last Saturday of April, the community celebrates the opening of trout season by stocking the pond. Children line the banks, fishing to their heart's content. The Village of Mancelona awards a silver dollar to children when they make their first catch of the day. Hot dogs, chips and beverages are available for no charge. Contributions are appreciated and accepted at the Kid's Fishing Day.
