10 PINES RANCH OPENS IN MANCELONA
Public is welcome; first race October 2, 2022
10 Pines Ranch is a family-owned motorcycle club. Ten families with different backgrounds, expertise, and plans came together to create an amazing track. The owners are Jon and Alyssa Barraw, Matt and Stephanie Bennett, Steven and Karly Dreffs, Chris and Kristy Forrest, Matt and Lauren Harris, Tommy and Meghan McDonald, Ken and Stephanie Peltier, Joe Randazzo, Justin and Mette Shannon, and Mark and Cindy Warren.
“We purchased 105 acres of heavily wooded land in the fall of
2021 and quickly started planning and clearing the trees,” the owners said. Then, 10 Pines Ranch was sworn in by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and D14 Hare Scramble for their upcoming adventure.
After nearly a year of continued hard work, 10 Pines Ranch now has a one-mile motocross track, 7.2 miles of single track, enduro section, a mini track, kids play area including a gaga pit, and plenty of space for racers, family, and friends to enjoy the event.
“This season has been dedicated to getting the ranch ready for our very first event that we are extremely excited for,” said Karly Dreffs. “It will be on October 2nd, 2022.”
Spectators are welcome to attend and watch boys, girls and adults ranging in age from 2 to 90, race on the tracks. It is anticipated that anywhere from 300 to 600 racers and nearly 4,000 people will be at the inaugural event. There are several designated spectator areas to watch the races. Seating is not available, but guests may bring a chair. In addition, a wide variety of vendors, including a food truck, will be on site.
“Beverages are allowed on the premises,” Dreffs said, adding that they should be consumed responsibly.
10 Pines Ranch has been able to accomplish many of their goals because of the generosity of their 24 sponsors.
“Our sponsors helped support our visions and goals for 10 Pines Ranch, and we can’t thank them enough,” Dreffs said. “Now, we can’t wait until we are able to show the public what 10 Pines Ranch is all about.”
10 Pines Ranch is located at 330 W. Elder Rd. Mancelona, MI 49659. Gates will open to the public Sunday at 8:00 a.m. Race events begin at 9:00 a.m. Admission is $10 per person over age 12; cash only.
This year, only one event is planned. Dreffs suggests following the 10 Pines Ranch Facebook page to keep current on future events for 2023.
“That is also where you can contact us with any questions,” she said.
